Van buying advice

Looking at buying a second hand van that has been advertised as vat paid. How can I check this is true? Who would be liable if it wasn't paid, me or the seller?

What do you mean? If it's a private sale then you just buy it and that's that.

If it's from a dealer then it'd be on the invoice.

Are you going to try and claim the VAT back?

Either way get a receipt stating what you paid and what for.

it's a trade sale, why i thought it should have vat but because he's not vat registered he can't charge vat
