I don’t know why, but I was always led to believe that the price of fuel charged at a supermarket was the same across all outlets within its chain. :-[

I discovered today that, that is not the case – Sainsbury’s in Bath is 4 pence a litre dearer for diesel than its sister supermarket in Frome. :-?

Look at Marlborough, i went past the garage there today, and he was charging £1.44.9 a litre(Unleaded), cheap for him!

Look at the demographic... They expect the good citizens of Bath to be a little more affluent than the Fromeys (and to have fewer fingers too perhaps... ;))

Ye Scotty, I was kinda thinking that must be the case. :-[
;D
I’m starting a decorating job in Bath soon. Do you think I would be compromising my socialist beliefs if I put my rates up? ;) :P

I believe that an extra £20 is not unreasonable if you are paying that much. Swindon is cheaper than that aswell!

Graeme, I always try and treat people as I would expect to be treated myself. I hope you are not suggesting that the Tories would deliberately rip-off ordinary folk like you and I? :P :P :P ::) ::) ::)

Trowbridge is 2p more than a few areas. ASDA Longwell Green is cheapest I have found, up to 5p cheaper than anywhere else

Bath fuel is a nightmare..especially when you run a handful of cars for a business there :( asda in frome is usually the cheapest of everywhere

Problem with Bath is that there is so few fuel stations, so those that are there charge more.

I would expect rents in Bath are more expensive so there is a plain justification for costs being higher.

Bath has a mixed population like any other city. There are people in hostles as well as celebirties like Nicholas Cage.

The garage in Box 5 miles to the East is pretty good value. I filled up at £139.9 with unleaded this morning and they consistently supply you with 2p per litre off vouchers.

So yes inner city it's higher, but I would think that's largely due to rents in Bath.
I work in Bath and my collesgues come from all around e.g. Bristol, chippenham, westbury, Bradford-on-Avon, so the people buying petrol i.e. commuters, do not necessarily live in the city.

I can't believe people buy fuel from Trowbridge lodge or the garage in Hilperton :-?

Think you'll find Ken that they 'talk' to each other about prices within each area which explains different prices... not that it is supposed to happen :-?

There was a woman selling handmade wicker baskets at Bradford market, she was doing quite well so decided to try selling them at Marlborough market but didn't have anywhere near as much luck as she did in Bradford.
Then someone told her she was too cheap for the people of Marlborough and to put her prices up.
She did that and sold loads :-/
