The heat in the oven got too hot and the government’s half-baked recipe for VAT on the Great British Cornish Pasty has been thrown out to the birds :)

I've got one in my sandwich box for work tomorrow. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

and where have you got a cornish (please note the lower case 'c') pasty from?

i would remind you the cornish pasty is protected under EEC law.

certain criteria has to met to call it a cornish pasty.

you may well have been duped into buying a fake product.
i suggest you call in Dom Littlewood to investigate.

i myself, having lived in cornwall(please note the lower case 'c') wouldnt touch a genuine cornish pasty with a barge pole.

they are made from low grade meat and vegetables by people with suspect hygiene standards.

enjoy your dinner. what hospital do you want the grapes sent to?

Fatbob, thanks for your informative advice.

It’s homemade made with prime cut and fresh vegetables. And as a nonconformist I’ll enjoy it even more in the knowledge that I’m not complying with an EEC regulation. ;) ;D

the EEC regulation was at the behest of the cornish(please note the lower case 'c')

it was not instigated by the EEC.
it was demanded by the cornish(please note....) because so many others were making a superior product and damaging the tarnished reputation they had built up over many years.

by the way shop bought or home made a cornish(please note...) pasty has to be made to certain guidelines to enable it to be called a cornish(please note....) pasty.

if you are contravening(?) the directive, as LIDLS do on a daily basis with skant regard for the heritage of the cornish(please note....) people and the mouthwatering food they produce, you WILL be liable to have it seized.

you have been warned

Might just wash it down with some real Somerset cider from Lidl :P

Hey Bob! give me a break, I'm a Cornish ally here celebrating the liberation of a pastry species which until today was at the mercy of a ruthless regime. ;) ;D

You could argue that it's a sign of true democratic government.... admitting they got it wrong...listening to the electorate and acting on their wishes.

But what do I know ! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

You're both wrong, we haven't had the EEC since 1993 and your lunch box pasty wouldn't be subject to the pasty tax as it isn't hot!

Dan I know that and Chris, I concede, the Tories got summit right. ;D

Ok you lot win - I threw the bloody exempt from tax EEC (Non-EEC) regulated cold filled with crap pasty in the bin.
Signing off now to make my Cheese rolls for tomorrow's lunch.

Phew! that was a close shave - I nearly said Cheddar Cheese rolls. ;D ;)

Unfortunatly a BANES Pasty dosen't have the same ring to it as a Cornish Pasty.

Now, should the crimp be on the top or the side????? :-?
