Boris Johnson is to court controversy by taking the media mogul Rupert Murdoch as his personal guest to the Olympics on Friday.
The Mayor of London will accompany the News International chairman to the Olympic pool to watch Rebecca Adlington defend her 800m freestyle title.
Rumour has it that Boris is considering using the Olympics as a springboard to launch a challenge on Cameron’s leadership. A significant number of MPs on the right of the party are unhappy with their Leader snuggling up to Clegg. Murdoch’s Sun is still the biggest selling daily (can’t think why) and if there is a contest after the games don’t be surprised to see the tabloid back Boris.
The thought of Boris Johnson as PM sends shivers down my spine – All we need right now would be a Leader who resembles a cross between George W Bush and Russell Brand.
The fact that Boris will be entertaining Murdoch at one of the top Olympic events is bound to ‘hack’ off a lot of people. If you’re attending don’t leave your seat without taking your mobile with you. ;)
