Having seen the AR50 photo posted it made me think!! Yes I did!!

What was your first Petrol powered bike! (Not pedal Rich!)

Mine was a Yam RS100! 85mph down hill, zits on the tank, arse in the air! I know I got a speeding ticket to prove it!!!

How many of you will admit to the joys (?) of a Fizzy (FS1E)?

We all started some where, be brave, be honest! :) Dare you to be truthful!!!

Had my 1st bike aged 5, i had a Yamaha pee-wee (50cc auto) off road bike..still in the family today !!

After that it was a number of Kawasaki KX Motocross bikes, culminating in pro circuit prepped KX125 that was loony :o

My 1st road bike though was a Kwak ZZ600, it was 8yrs old and had done 1500 miles :) , progressed onto a Honda Firestorm and yesterday picked up a brand new Kwak ZX-6R and loving it...

Funny how so many of you went straight into "BIG" bikes and skipped the initiation / humiliation of 50 - 125 ccs of arm wrenching power!!

Those were the days! Sigh!!

direct access scheme..means if you're over 22yrs old you can do cbt then training then your test and hop straight on any bike :P very dangerous really hehe as you can do it in a week and be out riding on your own on a huge bike with very little training

Funny thing I noticed when I bought my new bike, the dealer gave me a full safety lecture, DVD and suggested some advanced rider training. Something i will deffo look into...

It appear the government have put pressure on manufacturers and importers to get some safety messages out, considering how lethal some of these litre capacity sports bikes are.

Bike safe is pretty good, Did with Cheltenham police two years ago. Was more than a little surprised when the instructor passed me on his deauville at a little more than 70! There is a bikesafe show on 1st and 2nd at cheltenham race course, run by glos police with observed rides on both days.

Are you all ready for a trip dowm memory lane? 1. Royal Enfield, 2 Arial Huntmaster 350 single, 3 Arial Arrow, Arial Square Four, (should have kept that) Norton Commander, Triumph Bonni, Built my own Triton, (stonking bike), fj 1200, Pan and now on my second Rt, got knocked of the first one, first time in all those years. O and 2 or 3 off roaders.

A trusty CG125 for my test followed by a Triumph T100 - which I still have although not on the road since 1992. Lots of other stuff has come & gone in the meantime.

I started off with a Piaggio Typhoon 50cc - was great fun, quite zippy compared to my push bike ::) £2 to fill the tank and would get from 0-35mph maybe 40 with tail wind, down hill, leaning forward, farting .... faster than a 1L micra :)

wow would love to see pics of the t100 BB!

Your wish, is my command! One very poor quality scan of an old photo of my 1969 T100. No digitals of the old girl - must take some! I've had her since 1983 - before I passed my test! 8-)

I started with honda CBF 600. Great bike to start on but soon discovered that i wanted something with more umf and something that would zip round the corners better.
Got my Kawasaki Z750s and it suits me down to the ground.
It is interesting that it is about 50/50 on this site about people starting on 50's or going striaght to the mamoth bikes.

Hopefully it'l be back on the road this year, just needs a few bits to finish off. A mate is doing it when he has the time but as he runs a busy bike shop for a living the time is not so easy to find!

It came off the road for a winter rebuild in 1992 - didn't say which winter tho' ;D

I started on a hairdryer (a cool one though) it was a Gilera DNA 50cc

great fun to ride andhelped me get my awareness on the road, before progressing onto a Yamaha FZR400RR which I quickly crashed after 5 months, landing myself in hospital for ages.

in fact I crashed on the very same road you guys were talking about in Malmesbury, I was on my way to work at Dyson and crashed (partly due to ice, partly in-experience), it hurt anyway.

Now I ride the marvellous Kawasaki ZX7R and a fine machine it is!

it happens, they say- and I'm sorry to do this to everyone as it seems to be quite an accurate statistic - "every biker has one big accident" and I consider that one to be mine, touch wood, I learnt a lot and it taught me to slow down and re-learn what I already thought I knew.
I think it's made me a much better rider in the long run.

I know my car accident changed my outlook on driving... maybe i can get credit for that crash in the biking crash column???? Fat chance i am sure

I've often thought whether I would be able to win a new lid or something from one of the bike magazines. tempting, but I can't help but think that very oher bugger deserves it so much more as mine was down more to stupidity than anything else

Dare i admit it..a 'Honda Melody'..we all gotta start somewhere right?:P
Quickly followed by a Kwak AR125 with micron for supadupa power band ftw!
Then movin up to a Suzi GSX400F..OLD style with the flexible frame round 80mph bends.
Kwak GPZ750R was next in line, the baby 900R version..was fun..till i lost me licence on it. :'(
Got licence back after a few years break and got a Kwak ZX6R G2..very nice bike till one winter i hit a lovely ice patch..luckily the Gixxer K3 was about to be released, so instead of a hefty repair bill a shiny new Suzi was order'd from GW's first import stock..still going strong today:)
My bike lifes history!

edit: far too many smily's used!:P oops

Hundreds of years ago, I delivered one of these for a mate who ran a bike shop - scared me witless!! :( Was used to riding a bike with 'presence' but this thing just didn't seem to rate on the roads hirearchy!!

:-[ :-[ ::) :-[ :-[ Err... Umm... I... err... OH ****! Might as well admit it.... I had a Shhhh! -wisper- a Honda Melody Delux as well - and loved it!!! :-[ :-[ :) :-[ :-[

I had a problem with the exhaust on it all the time tho, I wore out 2 down pipe sections (wore through would be a better way of putting it) cranking over in right handed bends! The center stand "foot" got ground off it too!

It was a cracking little thing, taking as much abuse as I could throw at it and STILL coming back for more! I will go stand in the corner, face the wall and accept my humiliation with good grace! BUT I LOVED THAT BIKE!!!

:-[ :-[ :( :-[ :-[ Im going now.....
