View Full Version : Tyre replacement due:Best buy
Hi,My rear tyre is down to the limit and have been quoted £115 in Swindon(Pirelli Diablo 180/55). Wondering if anyone can suggest a better buy outside Swindon.
Where have you tried in Swindon??
as we have 3 in kembry park as in Bike Treads, GW, and Triumph, also if you buy off line and take your wheels off and take them to Bike Treads it can be cheaper.
can highly recomend bike treads, mot and new tyre was done there, no hassle, booked in for times that suited me, new rear tyre for me was £120, probably could have got it cheaper online and had them fit it, but hassle waiting for it to arrive and then transporting it down there.
Was bike treads who quoted.Just a bit low cash wise at the moment! lol
Same as but as it is just round the corner from my work place I can drop it off with them and then pick it up to go home with, then I dont mind spending the little extra.
I think the price you have been quoted is the cheapest out of the 3 on kembry for sure.
Buy mine online and have them delivered to my local bike shop in Chippenham ready for fitting. Works out cheaper for me.
Protyres are recommended on another forum I frequent and did me a good deal recently at their Westbury branch
Look out for the special offers on Pirelli diablo III's at the moment - £25 cash back on a pair.
Look out for part worns on ebay - many road tyres have come off bikes prior to racing and bargains can be had. That way it'll cost you between £8-15 to get a tyre fitted to loose wheels. Try Steve Lynehams ;)

Diablo's don't last long anyway..I was always lucky to get 3000 miles out of a rear.
Mitchlen Pilot 2CT's are well worth the few extra quid...should be able to get a front and back fitted for £200...got 8000 miles out of the rear and always had loads of grip...didn't sqaure for ages defintely recommended!
Buy em online from roundandblack....£180 ish a pair delivered, take em down steve lynhams in Kingsdown he will fit em cheep (Recommended for MOT's etc also!)
I use Biketreads never had any problems always friendly but then again I'm lazy and they're on the way to work.
All well and good to get them on-line but I can't stand waiting in for courior to deliver then taking wheels etc to get fitted - I'd rather pay a bit more and not faff about
Decided to go for another Diablo to match the front tyre from Bike Treads. I was short on money but had to get one anyway asap. £116 fitted and balanced! Bit of a shock to feel how the bike is much more edgy now!lol :)
Good choice of tyre, and quite a tidy CBR ya got there

Seriously that's just how good they are...
before when I used Diablo's (Did over 30k on them) and BT014's I was lucky to get 3000 out of each rear....but the Pilot CT2's although more expensive, last way longer, and offer just as much grip.
The Front Pilot CT2 I got looks good for anonther 1000 miles or so, then I got a new one hanging up in the garage ready to be fitted.
Anyway each to their own, your money not mine :P

I read a lot of review's about tyres and finally fitted the 2CT's as they are an all round tyre plus I use my bike for commuting during the winter too, so i needed a tyre that was also good in the wet. It's been on 10 months but after about 7000 miles it really does need renewing. Fitting another 2ct this week. Excellent tyre IMHO.
