Found this on another site - apparently its free. Would be good for ebay buying. A mate has tried it and said it worked.
DVLA are doing hpi checks for O2 by text message.
Just text the registration number to 83600 and wait for the reply. So i gave it a go, Took no more than 30 seconds to get the reply. You get 2 messages back, the first contains, make model, Vin(last 4 digits only), date of first reg, number of owners, colour, if it stolen or scrapped. In the second message if gives details of of insurance claims.
Its the way ahead.
