GSXR1000 (I know of one for sale very cheap @ £5.5K with low miles! Not at my place I will add)

gsxr750

gsxr600

all sticking with suzuki - bit more info could narrow it down [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

if your thinking about a 600 then i would say a r6, you can pick up a half good one for 2k

Between those 2 I would say a R6 as well, but I would go for a CBR6 myself

why the cbr then my mate has one leaves my old thing behind , how :-[

After riding the R6 of my mates and then getting on my other mates CBR it just felt easier on the body, the position was nicer for me, and I could handle it a little easier as it has the power but also allows for numptys like me that dont ride hard and fast to be a liitle wild and recover better (ie I over cooked the corner but made it out alive, I didnt get the same feeling from the R6).

IMHO Could place safe with the pipe & slippers comfy CBR. But if its a bike you intend to keep for sometime you will definitely get more entertainment if thats what you want... from an R6.

I agree with Igbell CBR is a much safer option for early days.. I don't know what the Track driven R6 was like in its early days did hear it was pretty manic, guess its still very much like it is now 'Track orientated' but pretty hard ride on the road. Either like it or loave it, personally I love it cracking handling and screams howls like a Banshee :D [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

At that budget you might be lucky and nab a zx6r B1 (may have to be an ebay job), but you may have to settle on the A (636) model or even the earlier J model if it is a minter.

I've ridden all of the above, plus a CBR and R6 I would plump for a B1....and I did a few years back.

However, your reasons for buying and owning a bike might be different to mine so if you can, try and grab a test ride first.

Quick look on Pistonheads reveals these:

CBR: http://www.pistonheads.com/SALES/935914.htm

ZX6r : http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/942895.htm (not a 636)

R6: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/945177.htm

Out of those lised, I'd go for the CBR
