you want advise for the best ones - give us a clue best ones for what?
14-48 for wheelies and acceleration
17-40 for top speed but slows accleration

standard ones are standard for a reason as they are a middle match for both!

Steve mate, what's wrong with the standard sized sprockets? Little point in changing something for the sake of it, Suzuki's designers don't just throw these things together, the final drive ratios (sprocket sizes) were chosen for a reason. I wouldn't pay too much heed to the drivel you read in the press (normally in something like Performing Berks) - gearing down only matters if you're a knee-down riding god like they are in their own minds and need extra bragging rights when you're in the pub...
Keep it simple....

if your going for different sizes dont change anymore than 3 on the rear or 1 off the front, if u go the other way smaller on the rear or larger on the front top speed will be lower as very unlikely the bike will pull the gearing

anyway I thought you were broke and needed urgent repairs before looking at gearing as that wasn't on your list of failures!

has you ever heard of the phrase K.I.S.S?? ;)

;D ;D i am broke lol. never heard of K,I,S,S,

i am getting work done in 3 weeks i think so just going for the basics to get me past mot, so the sprockets and that are out the window for now

Just get whats needed to get it through the MOT the rest of the shiney bits can wait (or keep the money and put it towards a new bike etc )

Life takes ages - so no need to rush!

I agree with the all of the above, HOWEVER if you make any performance modifications to the bike THEN you might want to change the gearing to suit the bike better.

By the way the K.I.S.S principle is one that I try to keep to in all walks of life:

KEEP IT SIMPLE, STUPID!!!

The other that might be apropriate here is:

IF IT AINT BROKE DONT FIX IT!!!

Get the basic to make it roll then add to when you have the cash and the time.
