went out tonight, got a cab home, but he couldn't take me down thamesdown drive, road closed by police, so paid cab and walked the remainder
2 bikes seem to be involved, one smashed pretty bad - not sure what has happened, but to close a road seems pretty bad
hope it was nobody from here involved
keep it shiny side up and ride carefully

Always bad to here this sort of thing. There seem to be a spate of nasty accidents at the moment, 4 deaths in 1 day within the last week!! Take care out there people!!
I did hear about the crash - I also heard both riders were killed but cannot find anything on the news sites about it - so no confirmation yet. The road had been closed from approx 8.30
If it is the case RIP fellow riders

I have been in touch with the police this morning. A press statement was released at 6am once the road was re-opened.
Heart radio has announced that both bikers were killed, and that the police are appealing for witnessess.
Sad news...

Conflicting stories in the news.
Heart radio still insists both riders died.
Swindon Advertiser says one.. http://www.swindonadvertiser.co.uk/news/4267018.Biker_dies_after_crash/
Either way - sad news.

A MOTORCYCLIST died after a smash on Thamesdown Drive yesterday evening.
The accident happened at 8.45pm just past the Tawny Owl pub when two bikers, travelling north along Thamesdown Drive, collided.
It appears the lead motorcyclist hit the kerb on a right hand bend, causing the other biker to crash into him and be thrown from his bike.
Ambulance crews tried desperately to save the man's life but he died of his injuries.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Central Roads Policing Unit on 0845 4087000.

This is terribly sad news. No biker goes out with the intent to end up the next statistic. Its a sad reminder how pure enjoyment is just a split second from tradegy.
Take care of yourselves out on the roads fellow bikers.

very sad to hear .... RIP
Terrible news sad to hear this,
It just goes to show you that it might be a nice warm day out there but if you havent been on your bike for a while take the first few times steady and also warm the tyres up
This particular stretch of road has received attention in the past from Speed vans, and a new flashing LED 40mph reminder.
It is quite a difficult bend to get right if you are travelling over 40mph - the camber does tend to throw you to the nearside, which is where this biker unfortunately came to rest.
It's also difficult to stay at 40mph. It just feels so slow especially with the bend to cane it around. I hear bikes screaming down the road on a daily basis as it's just behind my house.
Be it rider error, speed, road surface or whatever the cause, you never know what's around the corner.
Be careful!
