It is deffo worth it mate no matter what level of riding you are at, they also do a high speed police course in cumbria, i dont think its the same company, but i know one of my team mates have done it and they said that they were nakered after about 3hrs, it doesnt qualify you to speed or be an out rider, its just ment to show you how to avoid situations at speed and how to deal with them.

I would strongly recommend the Bike Safe courses. It will teach you a system to apply to all hazards and help you negotiate and interpret them so that you are SAFE!

According to this website it's £135 for Wiltshire Bikers (£99 if you live some other places - see detail at the bottom).

Hi Ryan - I believe this relates to Bikesafe and not the Rider Performance day. Bikesafe in Wiltshire is a £10 deposit but they don't cash the cheque if you turn up. It's just to stop people taking places when they aren't committing to going.
Other than that, the only cost for BikeSafe is your own petrol and food. I don't think they even charge for the Tea & Coffee (in Wiltshire anyway). Everyone I know who has done BikeSafe has thought it was well worthwhile.

There is also a course called "Ride2Arrive" which takes place in Portishead and is run by Avon & Somerset Police. I believe it's free but there might be a charge for the accomodation/food as it's residential over a weekend (not sure about that but it's certainly very cost effective).

If people want to explore the options then it might be worth getting down to the Bike Safe South West event this weekend.

There will be the chance to ride with a police officer and there will be info on BikeSafe as well as IAM & ROSPA etc.
I can provide info on IAM & ROSPA costs if anyone wants the info as I'm a member of both.

From the A&S site the Castle Combe Ride2Arrive day is £99.00 I believe looks a good day out. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Various forums have recommended BS so after looking on their site we've decided to give it a bash (19th May I think in Devizes?).

Should be fun and learn a thing or two

I am pretty sure that Ride2Arrive is a residential weekend event and not a day event.

I am pretty sure the first couple this year are full, so you're going to have to look at later in the year.

Hi,

I rang Somerset Safety Partnership today, the lady was very helpful and said there are still places for Castle Combe 13th May 2009 and she emailed me an application form straight away, it's in the post now, can't wait. ;D
