help me people lol

i am meant to be picking up a new bike tomorrow but am with mce insurance and kgmotor, i think one is a broker.

its taking them forever to get a quote/swap anything over. they have to send it off to the underwriters apparently,

i am 21 and need to pick the bike up from swindon tomorrow,

i have done some googleing and only found 1 company that will cover me and its £78 for a whole month,

can anyone help?

I guess the only real option is to get someone with ride other bike cover to ride it back for you in that case? unless you can find another company that will just do a day

Does your current policy cover you to ride 3rd party on other bikes? I know mine does as standard and it should cover you for an emergency. Obviously not the best solution due to the lesser cover but if it does its an option.

Most rental companies include insurance, but you may find that they have minimum age limits when hiring vans.

Ask one of the Trowbo massive, who are fully comp, if they can ride it back for you after giving them a lift to GW.

I hear they are easily bribed with most kinds of fast food particularly burgers.

Bear in mind that if someone else rides it for you under their "other bikes" extension then they are probably only covered 3rd party.
This means it's legal for them to be on the road, but YOUR BIKE is not covered.

I know you probably don't want to but surely you can delay the pick up.
Get on the phone and give your brokers some stick. You pay them remember.

hadnt thought of that,

i might ask the guy if he is still covered,

or weather he will deliver for a fee and i will take him home,

worth a shot

Shouldn't take that long to get an answer from the underwriters - I've had some stupid bikes to insure in the past and only taken a few minutes and done while on hold! I'd give MCE a call again! KGM is the underwriters and spot on esp when you have a couple of years NCB [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Where you getting the bike from? Or is it private sale?

zachl

private sale mate,

£2500 for a 2007 sv 650 sport, 6,000 miles :)

I have comp insurance which only gives me 3rd party cover for riding other bikes.

I think Stu is right though it should only take minutes on the phone to get cover through your own company (the underwriter is probably a supervisor)

When Rob passed his test and stepped up from a 125 to a 250 his existing insurer wanted an arm and a leg so it was cheaper to cancel and take out a new policy.

I personally have a trade policy so am covered fully comp plus have the same for work 8-) I would offer but unfortunatly I am working all day then diving in the evening.

I think I have only ever had to wait for a call back once and that was for my heavily modified R1 but also had NOS which that caused an issue and caused the delay but iirc it was only about 30 mins. You seriously need to get calling them. Or are you not telling us the full story for the delay and have 6 D&D offences 7 bans and driving with no insurance on your licence ;)

yeh but i only have 2 months left until i have my first years no claims and i have already paid it all off

i told the guy i might not be able to make it and he has offered to deliver it for £20 petrol money for his car,

so all sorted now,

thanks for all the comments and suggestions guys

oh i hope not lol, well its taken them 2 days so far so i wouldnt put it past them,

note to self do not renew, go with 1 company, not a company that uses another in a weird stupid time-wasted way

You'll find most insurance brokers use underwriters so you'll find this in future. Have you actually rung them as they may have your number wrong etc

But glad its sorted

zachl
28-04-10, 11:13 PM

5 mins later, and im all insured, bloody companies,

so i managed to take this for a spin this evening :)
