Careless driving (whitelining cars on the M4) and excess speed? Asking for a mate like ;)

Yeah a Mate of mine did. 95mph at night in the wet on the m4. 1 week ban and £300 fine. What do you class as excessive speed?

Dunno, haven't got the summons yet. They were following me for a few miles, it was only when i did the whitelining they pulled me. Said they would have dealt there and then with the excessive speed, but the little weaving manouvre was too much, so i was warned for excessive speed and careless driving. Poor obs i know, but i thought it was a 'rep' trying to race me. Black 09 plate 5 series, between 16 and 15.

ooooh. Over 100 and you're getting a ban, over 120 and facing the wrong magistrate, could be really bad news. Start doing your research now to give yourself any kind of advantage. A good solicitor would be a very good idea too. Good luck.

"The maximum penalties following a conviction for careless driving are a fine, obligatory penalty points of between 3 – 9 and the court has a power to disqualify at it’s discretion."

Add 3 points to that for the speeding (or 6 depending on your speed excess).

Get a motoring specialist solicitor asap is the best advice anyone can give you.

Do a google search for careless driving penalties and quite a few will come up.

Good luck.

I don't think they have me for any specific speed, they did say they would have dealt with me at the roadside with a fixed penalty, but for the careless driving manouvre. Probably have to look at the time and distance evidence, i don't think i went over 110 Leptons (70mph)at anypoint. :o

Well you already admitted to doing 110mph and previously stated that the police didn't clock you at a specific speed, how do you know the Policeman who pulled you is not a member on here, or more to the point one of his mates, either way though you dont even need to be a member on these forums to read these posts, and a quick google search could probably pull this thread up in 2 seconds.

People have been done for posting videos on youtube and speeding with very little identifying features on their bike, so far you have said the offence, the speed, the exact location and you have an image of your bike on your profile. If this went to court and got forbid they had read this, and your plea said otherwise, who do you think the judge will believe.

I dont mind either way what you say, I was just giving you a nice heads up, carry on as you see fit.

Quick Mitch put "only joking" after your posts. I'm sure they can't touch you then. ;D

In my defence i never ever said mph, 110 kph is less than 70mph, which as we all know as law abiding bikers, is the max speed any of us would go on a motorway!

I always thought white lining was overtaking on solid white lines.

You're just describing filtering to me ;D ;)

What is whitelining please?

Riding down the white lines, on a motorway it is known as the 4th lane/motorcycle lane, between lanes 2&3.

I'm with R1chie on that one...although I've never done it at 80+.
