Sorry for posting here... was going to post in the trips forum, but i dont seem to have the "start new topic" button there?

Anywhoo.... was just wondering if anyone from here is going to the Bol D'or 24h race at Magny-Cours circuit this month?

I'm setting off from Portsmouth to Le Havre on the 14th at 11PM :D :D :D
and then riding on A roads to Nevers, where the circuit is, we done it last time in about 6h or so.. its a good ride!

Should be a good one, its always a bit mental over there, you have to be there to experience the French anarchy and the partying.... and of course the 24h race!!

anyone going? :)

Hi JP. Long time no see mate. Bol D'or is on my to do list but cant go this year as work is going crazy at the moment. I have just booked up for the Le mans 24Hr though. I know what you mean about the french bikers, hanging of the rev limiter and rolling burnouts etc ;D

you in this forum too mate?!?! heheheh nice to see you here!!

you do know they have changed the dates this year?
Bol D'or used to be in september and Le Mans in April, now its the other way round..

well... if it was only the burnouts!!
they seem to have some kind of attraction to flames and fires! they have engines on crates, just to rev it and get flames out the exhausts...the whole weekend day and night! and then on sunday, they set fire to the scrap cars they take in to drive around the weekend...

At Magny Cours it's the Bol in name only, when they moved it there from Le Castellet in 2000 it went from THE defining end-of-season event to become just another 24hr race :'( Still a good do in its own right, but a shadow of its former self in the Paul Ricard heydays, the venue made all the difference. I've no idea why they swapped dates with Le Mans, probably just being French I guess... ::)

Have a good time JP, don't forget a big lock and chain and leave nothing of any value on the campsite!

well, apparently its all due to the weather...

in April, there's more rain at Le Mans than Nevers and in September there's more in Nevers than Le Mans... so they changed the dates around so there's more chance of dry weather for each event

big lock and chain...? naaa... My tent is like a 3 bedroom house, it has its own garage for the bike :)
