just bought a 2003 sv650s 7800 miles what you all think. its standard so what mods do your recommend etc

Give it few miles to get used to as standard before nodding. Youll then get a feel for what, if anything, needs doing. You might decide after a year or so to change to something else so not worth spending loads on it... or keep it long term and fit citrus!

Enjoy the bike, save money for petrol & tyres. ;)
Gone are the days when changing your exhaust & airfilter gave you an extra 4.5 BHP at 7500RPM (definetly SOUNDED faster tho! 8-)) although most exhausts now have their own postcode, such is their size & girth... No harm in a few light mods tho - get on nubileasianmilfs.co the relevent SV forum and see what works before spending beer tokens on anodised semi-ellipictical whipdown valve covers.
Its the truth.

i just have to wait for my liscence to come through before i can have it :( but shouldnt be to long i hope :/ anybody know how long it takes to come through ?

I don't believe you need to have your licence in your hand to be able to ride. Your test pass will have been recorded and I assume your provisional licence has been submitted through the test centre for your entitlement to be added.

Change all the bolts for anodised ones, get lazer cut heal plates, chain guard and rad cover, some neon frame lights, a small number plate with a witty slogan on it e.g. "may the force not see you" and stick on as much carbon fibre bits as you can.
It'll look well smart! [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Check your bike over regularly for cracks, loose bolts & other wear and tear - Catastrophic Metal Fatigue can happen at any time & may prove detrimental to you and your bike:

You bought the wrong model. But if you must...
When was it last serviced? I'd look at doing a fluid change first and giving it new oil and plugs unless they have been recently done.
Other than that stick 15w oil in the forks as the standard 10w makes them far to soft. Anything else depends on what you want from it and how big your wallet is.
Good choice!!!
Best mod to make is to the milage.... increase it as much as possible.
If you want to throw some money and goodies at it go and speak to JHS in Keynsham.

Have heard the fork gripe so often about the Sv, but never had a problem with mine.... just taste I guess.

As Squirrel said, give it a little service unless you know it's just been done and change the fork oil for some 15w.
We just did this and stripped, cleaned and rebuilt his calipers (I say we, what we actually did was talk him through it in our garage, so he did all the work) and he said it felt like a new bike, that was on a 55 plate

Just to clarify what Stretchie tried to write; we have recently done this with another mates pointy. He striped and rebuilt the calipers and changed the fork oil under our supervision, he was very pleased with the results. So was I when I did the same to mine.
And yes our rates are quite unreasonable...
