I just had alook ay my engine , and i was told it was changed , thats cool no problem so i thourght ,but i have just done the oil and filter , and realised there are 3 filters for the ex500, i had no idea if i have an old a type or the second gen d type the bikes a d , so i looked the engine number up , and cross reffed with my v5 as it wasnt changed over prolly nicked lol ,and the numbers on the one in my bike are higher than one shown on the v5 , NOW my point it because its a higher number is it a newer engine ? or cant a rely on that and possably fitted the wrong filter .v5 says ex 500a1155316 one in the bike is1773371 , and at some point can someone check it over ,as i have a rattle and cant decide that i miss adjusted 1 tappet or its a chain thrashing about . :)
