Help for a friend who is thinking of getting a CBF600 circa 2005.

Has anyone here owned one, ridden one?? Are they good, bad, average?? Any known faults?? What's the ABS like?

Cheers.

Jon. :)

i rode a 2007 model, and an earlier one, they both rode the same, and were reliable, good starters, pretty good engines, handled and braked ok....dont remember them having ABS tho.......

both had scabby down pipes on show (open to the elements) which let both of the appearances down, which was a shame, but thats about it!

"so you’d expect more from this “retuned” (read detuned) engine. Whilst the power band is broad and it can shift well enough, there’s a distinct absence of any real go"

Typical MCN.... if it hasn't got a gorillion bhp it's a bad thing!!! ;D

Cheers JD. The ABS was an option, amd I think the one he has in mind has it fitted.

My mate has one and I've used it quite a lot. In my opinion it's a great bike. Top gear is really flexible and pulls like a train from 40 mph ish.

Motorcycle news always give rubbish reviews, better to read the comments below than the top article.
They said about my bike that the front brakes were too good. How can they be too good?? :-?

Give Sue a member on here a shout as she had one for a couple of years :)

Would make a better town/city bike than a CBR as retuned for midrange + normal handlebars + no fairings to speak of? :)

I have one a 2004 version, easy to ride plenty of poke for me pulls in any gear and works well 2 up. Mine has ABS but I haven't noticed it kick in. When I bought it I was looking for a thou but this was too good an offer to refuse and I haven't regretted it at all.

Before my hopes and dreams were crushed by the insurance companies i was looking into getting a CBF, spent quite a bit of time looking at reviews and what not. 90% of it was all good and the 10% was just people who were retarded and had tyres so squared off they may as well have had car tyres fitted xD

Mine was 2000, and a little crotch rocket!
