Thoughts & prayers go out to him.
That was an absolutely horrific crash. Good decision to stop the race.
Hope he's ok. It was mentioned on tele as well, but it's never a good situation when a riders helmet comes off.

Before reading that I was feeling the same, maybe Rossi will retire?
For anyone that has seen Fastest that was released this year theres a bit between Kevin schwantz and Wayne Rainey where Wayne says to him you don't appear to be enjoying it any more. With Raineys accident that left him in a wheel chair, it helped Kevin decide on retiring.
Rossi and Sic were pretty close weren't they? Racers understand the risk put being in the thick of it and directly involved is completely different.
Thoughts go out to both Edwards and Rossi almost god knows how they must be feeling know.
very sad, thoughts are with his family, rip
Absolutely awful to watch.....the sight of his rolling helmet will stay with me for a long time......I feel for those who were there and involved...... especially his immediate friends and family......a sad day for so many........RIP MARCO
Marco Simoncelli was a true racer, he was always thrilling to watch, a real character.
He is a huge loss, rest in peace Marco.
Had Sky+ it to watch it later, when I went home for lunch I just deleted the race :(
I really do think he would have grown into a top class rider, he wasn't scared to make a move :)
Massive sympathy to his family, friends and crew. :(

I'm a bit disgusted that the 6pm BBC news sports headlines only consisted of football scores and rugby scores. No mention of this.

Marco was the one rider that made MotoGP interesting. With Rossi being off form, it was Simoncelli who made the racing exciting. The sport always remembers the riders that make the spectators stand up and gasp. He'll be sorely missed.

Marco's funeral scheduled for Thursday, October 27 at 3:00pm in the church of Santa Maria di Coriano. He will be buried in the cemetery of this town, near Riccione, where he was born 24 years ago.
:( :(
A terrible loss to the sport, one of its true rising stars :'( Since getting back I've been catching up and watched the Phillip Island races last night - good to see SuperSic get his best ever result in the class, the win was surely on its way before too long.
Sure, he ruffled a lot of feathers amongst the prima donnas in the sport and his riding was maybe a little bit too much "take no prisoners" at times, but it was great that he was no respecter of reputations and he probably loved the fact that the Lorenzos and Doviziosos were bad-mouthing him.
Top bloke, great racer. They all know the potential risks, but nobody could have envisaged such a terrible way to go.
Ride on Marco, you were the biz mate 8-)

Horrible accident, but when you do 120 mph anything can happen - we never want to even think of worst end, but this is a risk when pushing our bikes to the limits.
Big loss to sport

Lovely tribute in MCN this week. Back page says it all really.

What a complete and utter tragedy. Must admit I had no real interest in watching Moto GP, only watched it to see how Simoncelli was doing and really wish I hadn’t Sunday.
Who remembers when we had ‘personalities’ (back in the days before vacuous ‘celebs’) and our motorsport heroes weren’t robot like perfection? Here was a rare proper old style racer with personality aplenty. And my god, was he great to watch (and good to look at)
God bless
There's a nice tribute video montage (http://www.bikesportnews.com/news-detail.cfm?newstitle=Video:-Our-final-Marco-Simoncelli-tribute&newsid=5956) on the BikeSport News website

Are Thoughts Go Out To His Family And Freinds R I P Marco Simoncelli Will Be Missed
Sorry this is a bit late but i watched it when this happened and knew it was bad...
I am a soft bugger and watching these tributes brought tears to my eyes. Before that horrific weekend to see Marco on the podium was great! He was something special. I dont class him as a dangerous rider, he simply wanted the best and to be the best...
sometimes being number one involves taking risks...
RIP Marco!

A tragic lose to the sport.
Lessons need to be learned though. Marco was killed instantly but it did not stop the over enthusiastic marshals simply bundling the body on a stretcher and then running off the track.
On the way one of them managed to drop the stretcher.
If he had just been seriously hurt and just unconcious their actions could have had serious implications
