A MOTORCYCLIST has died after losing control of their bike on the motorway and hitting a tree.
The M4 was closed for five hours last night following the fatal accident, which happened on the eastbound carriageway of the motorway between junction 15 and 16.
At around 9.28pm the driver of a maroon coloured Suzuki GSXF motorcycle lost control of the bike and left the carriageway to the nearside where the vehicle collided with a tree.
As a result of the collision the motorcyclist sustained multiple injuries and was pronounced dead at the collision scene.
The road was closed for five hours to allow for collision investigation work on the vehicle and repairs to the road surface.
Scott Hill, from the Serious Collision Investigation Team based at Wiltshire Police Headquarters, said: “Police are appealing for any witnesses who have not already identified themselves or who might have seen the motorcycle involved to make themselves known and contact PC David Williams of the Serious Collision Investigation Team.”
Anybody with any information should call Wiltshire Police on 101 or alternatively Crime Stoppers on 0800555111.
Unfortunately that biker wasn't the only one :( a young biker was killed last night on the stretch of dual carriageway just off the roundabout in Nwebury going towards the M4.
Rest In Peace. Condolences to the families of both riders.

RIP.
Just wondered, is that the same PC Williams that is notorious for pulling bikers for petty offences?

A teenage motorcyclist has been killed in a crash involving his motorbike and a car in Newbury.
Thames Valley Police said his Yamaha machine was in a collision with a blue Renault Clio, just after 22:30 BST on Friday.
The 17-year-old, from the Thatcham area, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers are appealing for witnesses to the crash, which happened on the A339 between the Robin Hood and Vodafone roundabouts.
PC Tom Offer said: "This is a fairly busy road and I am sure that there were other motorists in the area at the time who might have seen the collision happen, or the vehicles being driven beforehand.
Tragic R.I.P
