Dunno what A2 is, full license? My insurance needs carrying pillions to be specified.

You'd definitely need to check you have pillion cover on your insurance

It's not clear from the dvla website, but from motorcycle training websites the answer seems to be yes you can carry a pillion with an A2 licence.

I'd check with the DVLA.

yup, you can carry pillions on an A2 and use the motorway but pillion use must be declared on insurance...i'm A2 myself :)

Passed my test on a RD250 Yamaha in 1976 when I was 17. Chucked away my L plates.

Then in the 80's they bought in the 125 learner law and I have never understood it since...

I was there with the 125 limit but yep well before all the other limits and licence restrictions etc. Never really got my head around it all...thankfully no need.

And me, passed in 1980 on an X5 in the rain, nearly fell off but was out of sight of examiner so it didn't matter.

Just a note if you've never taken a pillion before or they haven't ridden pillion just go steady as it can really change the bikes handling especially if they sit up going round a corner!! not funny :(

Me too I passed mine when I was just 17 back in 1982 on my Yamaha XS250 Special on a rainy day in September. The examiner told you where to go and you just rode off into the distance, 20 mins later you threw away your L plates 8-)

Hey Sam, you have a Full Motorcycle Licence, albeit restricted to 33bhp. So that means you can carry pillions, as long as the insurance covers you. :)
