I've decided to get a Sat nav for the bike and will be very grateful for any recommendations.

I'm also a bit undecided as to which mount to use having narrowed it down to -

or

I'm swaying towards the first option with the fork stem mount.

I've got a Telefrizer mount http://www.telferizer.com/ then one of these http://www.ram-mount.co.uk/double-socket-arm-for-1-ball-p-1009-c-238_286.html so i can then mount a camera or Iphone in case with ball mount, if i'm using the Iphone i use http://www.handtec.co.uk/product.php/2810/sony-ericsson-bluetooth-stereo-headset-mw600---black?gclid=CLqh8ry4pbECFa4mtAodfFtdrQ to bluetooth the music and satnav instructions up to me. All depends on the bike i 'spose, and whether you want a dedicated sat nav. I like the iphone because i can listen to music and get the nav instructions up to me all in one.

I've found the android / google maps excellent, even with voice only.

Thanks. :)

Choice is a bit limited as its for a GSXR 750, so no options to mount on the bars.

I only really intend to use it for Sat nav, or as a phone holder, I dont want Blue tooth for sound etc. I dont like listening to music on the bike and the Satnav voice in my helmet would drive me potty.

I'm very impressed with an Android app I downloaded, NavFree world, but would like a dedicated Sat nav now.

Then you want a Telefrizer, as it's designed for sports bikes, then the arm, then a case with ball for whatever phone you have. Navfree is a superb app for this, and of course free.

I have a Garmin Zumo 660 having had a Zumo 550 previously. I can't recommend these to you as they do far more than you need, but they are great SatNav's for bikes if you like to plan routes, listen to music and be wireless. There are loads of different mounting options available for these. Not cheap though..... My mobile is circa 1995 so there's no phone option for me ;D

From what I can see the one made by Telferizer is just like the ones selling on Ebay ie the ram mount which fits into the fork stem.

ive got the same one nikki, works on both the gsxr and my aprillia, fantastic bit of kit, you need the power lead too though (think i paid £55 all in) it needs to be the right lead though (both in connector and power)

I've taped directions to the yoke of the bike before. Works well.

Great idea but I've spotted a floor in that plan, how will he see it when he puts his jacket on??? :-/

Not sure if you sorted your mounting, on my duc I found the best approach was to ziptie the satnav to the top yoke :D

Nikki,
If you are buying a dedicated bike sat nav then all you will need is a mount for the bike as they are waterproof and therefore is no need for an additional case :)

I had a TomTom Rider pro until recently and it was a great bit of kit 8-)

Thanks - I'm probably going to go for a waterproof case with a car Sat Nav. I wouldnt use it on the bike enough to warrant having one just for the bike.
