Right then my bike is three years old in 4 weeks.

Will I get a letter telling me to MOT it or am I expected to just sort it?

You won't get a letter.

You sort it.

There is no reminders where MOT's are concerned. You can get a MOT test done 4 weeks before the due date so you effectively get a 13 month ticket.

If it fails you have the 4 weeks to fix it

You will be told on your tax disc renewal that the vehicle requires an MOT and that's about it.

Use this site to check insurance (always use free option)

http://www.askmid.com/

My daughter went to tax her car online and it said she was not insured. She insured her car a couple of months before using an on-line company.

She gave the reg 894 - hers was 984... :o

She spent 2 months driving around in an car that was not insured. Just shows its worth checking your own reg number on askmid to see what it says

Oh lord, I forgot all about MOT's! I'm bringing my bikes over from Ireland later in the year and we don't have MOT's for bikes in here.

They're both well maintained and in good nick but I'll be looking to you all for tips on what they'll be looking for. I take it I should hang on to my stock cans just in case? :-?

Ok, so after 3 years you need to MOT your bike, but when is it due, is it from first registered? So July 2009 needs it's first MOT in July 2013?

No, its due when the bike becomes 3 years old, so in this case its July 2012.

Unless I've missed something that's 4 years.
