Who remembers their first big bike
mine was this, A brand new 1979 kawasaki Z250 Scorpion i think it cost something like £2/3 grand a fortune for a 17 year old lol.
For those that remember the "250" learner law, a 250 was the biggest bike you could ride with a provisional licence it was also a time that Norwich Union ruled the motorcycle insurance world with their "Rider Policy", you could ride any bike whether you owned it or not with no loss of cover upto your stated engine size.

I remember the 250 learner law and just missed out on getting a 250, i was gutted after seeing so many others on RD250 and Suzuki X7's with microns fitted.....ahh the smell of the 2 stroke engine.
I had to settle for a DT125 which was like the one below.

I didn't take my test until I was 27 so learned on a Honda CG125.
Went straight from that to a 1969 Triumph T100, 500cc twin and I've still got her.

We could learn a lot from crayons; some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, while others bright, some have weird names, but they all have learned to live together in the same box.”

I went directly from Swindon test center where I passed to dynamite performance bikes in Bournemouth to collect my Kawasaki ZR7 750cc that I’d brought and paid for the day before. Yes I was confident on passing and no I don’t no what I’d have done if I hadn’t passed as I couldn’t have collected the bike and they don’t give refunds .
