For those interested in wine, there is a site dedicated to reviewing wines at reasonable prices available from mass outlets.

You can read these without registering, or sign up and do your own, or add your comments to others.

Sounds interesting, I do like a nice glass of wine..... or more or less any alcohol
We could learn a lot from crayons; some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, while others bright, some have weird names, but they all have learned to live together in the same box.”

It seems that, due to spamming, general registration has been disabled.

    Need to e-mail...

Got this very nice Merlot from Lidl for £4.50.
I've paid a hell of a lot more for wines nowhere near as nice.
    It's worth checking out.

But if you are a wine heathen and it tastes good to you, does that matter?

Lidl is best for wines, their buyers are the most stringent purchasing, none of that 2 for £10 **** you get in Morrisons. Their £17 malts are pretty damn good too.

The cost, profit, quality comparison is just a general rule of thumb.
A small vineyard will produce a much smaller batch and will cost a lot more than a large vineyard that is mass producing.
Is the small vineyard 's wine better because it's more bespoke?
    Probably not.
Much like motorbikes, you don't necessarily get what you pay for.
I've got a few friends who ride Italian exotica which they paid a premium for because they are hand built. Are they better than my 15 year old Jap machine? I'd say No.
They look great and the name carries more kudos but build quality is poor, reliability is iffy and getting parts is a pain and expensive.

Shops like Lidl and Aldi stack 'em high and sell 'em cheap with much smaller profit margins and once it's gone, it's gone.

Stick to what you like and don't be swayed by the snobs.

Both Lidl and Aldi wines have much improved over the years.

The big difference (for me) is that Aldi deliver - and free !

I can only get about 6 bottles in my back pack so delivery is a must. I buy my wine from all the major supermarkets with my weekly order. I use whichever outlet has the best offers. Usually 25% off across the board for 6 +
