Quick steel

When the rac came out yesterday he plugged my radiator with quick steel.After about 10 mins i was good to go.Read up on line about it and have only seen good reviews.Been told the radiator should be ok with this in(seen as how it was not a huge hole).
Anybody got any experience of this stuff?Comments greatly appreciated.

Go to B&Q and buy some 1/4" wire mesh, cut to size to fit over your radiator (following the curvature of the rad, taking care to trim the cut ends so there are no sharp bits sticking out) and fix over the front of your rad using cable ties (down the sides) - good enough for world championship level race bikes, works well on the road too - this goes for anyone, not just ZX owners, cheap but effective [smiley=thumbsup.gif] 8-)

the two part compounds are really good nowadays, ive got some "Devcon F" that i use to alter inlet/exhaust ports and crankcase shapes, and have used this on rads with good success.

scottys point taken tho, nice easy cheap mod, and prevention IS cheaper than cure... ;-)

if youre really concerned take the rad out and take it to a radiator specialist and they will pressure test it for you.

Exhaust ports really...bugger that stuff is good, heard of tuners using two pack epoxy in the inlet side and building up exhaust ports with weld but not goo in the exhaust outlets...interesting. Does it last ok JD?

tis goooood stuff, but 500grams is about £45 inc postage.....
(unless you steal it from the company you used to work for).... :

engines ive used it in are motocrossers that have a strip on a "very" regular basis and the barrels only have a service life of a very short time anyway, so dont know about using it in the long term on RGV's or road bikes such as LC'YPVS KR1s etc.....the manfr recommends max temp applications of only 120 deg c! (dont think it may last long then in road motors :-)

willing to donate if someone wants to take the chance...hahaha :-)

Thanks for the info guys.Have sorted a guard for the rad now.Think ill stick with the repaired rad.Prices i found were:£600 brand new and £180 second hand.
