After a cold and foggy start, it cleared up for our first rendezvous at Trowbridge. I think 10 bikes (and a car) set off Warminster, where a couple more joined.
Thanks to Beemerman for leading. Note the astute delegation of hi-viz-wearing duty to Caz
It was chilly, but the ride seemed very quick on nice quiet roads—apart from the lovely bends just before Shaftesbury, where some of us got stuck behind a van doing 25mph. > :
With Dell and Denise joining us too, we overflowed the motorcycle parking area!
Thanks to Gerry for the wreath, photogenically presented by Connor:
Then it rained...
...quite a lot...
We watched the procession:
...and joined in...
There was a dignified ceremony at the memorial before the 2-minute silence at 11, followed by the laying of wreaths.
We left the band in the town centre and went to enjoy John Peel's excellent "breakfast" (I was too busy eating it to take a photo!).
I know some visitors were quite happy with the rain [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
...but for us it wasn't so welcome—some hilly bits of road on the way back were awash with water. Fortunately it eased off while we were stopped dithering about what to do for lunch; some of us decided to continue Harp & Crown to dry out...
...and warm up...
8-)
And the after-dinner entertainment was first class! ;D
Thanks all for a memorable day out.
