The cost, profit, quality comparison is just a general rule of thumb.
A small vineyard will produce a much smaller batch and will cost a lot more than a large vineyard that is mass producing.

Probably not.
Much like motorbikes, you don't necessarily get what you pay for.
I've got a few friends who ride Italian exotica which they paid a premium for because they are hand built. Are they better than my 15 year old Jap machine? I'd say No.
They look great and the name carries more kudos but build quality is poor, reliability is iffy and getting parts is a pain and expensive.

Shops like Lidl and Aldi stack 'em high and sell 'em cheap with much smaller profit margins and once it's gone, it's gone.

Stick to what you like and don't be swayed by the snobs.
