Went in for a new front this morning. When I rode out, the speedo was not functioning.

Took it back, and they had the wheel off and refitted the sender twice. Still not working.

This is stand-alone mechanical system, all others are electronic off the gearbox.

They say it was re-fitted correctly so there is nothing they can do. Same tale at the front desk (Protyre).

    Discuss.

    Bugger!

Trying to ride motorways on a large bike with no speedo in theses days of multiple cameras is a recipe for disaster.

I've now solicited their head office and await a reply.

Is yours the type with the little magnet thingy by the speed sensor? If so I know the magnet casing gets brittle and the magnet can drop out when the wheels removed with the end result of no speedo.

    Don't know about a magnet.

Tiz a mechanical drive which then patches into the instrument loom and gets digitalised.

180 ° male / female socket. Can only locate one way.

If you get stuck, it may be worth having a word at bike care, which is just up the road at st George. The guy who runs the garage is well knowledgeable, and should be able to point you in the right direction.

Yep, I've used them several times. Also Morpheus a wee bit further up the same road.

Protyre have booked me in for an extended examination next Thurs. after contact with their head office and area manager.

    Shall suck that and see.

Had a look on the Triumph forum , a common problem seems to be the splined circular magnet which sends a pulse up the cable to the speedo , this has been known to crack/break resulting in a loss of input to the speedo .

This guy , Trevor is near Warminster , have bought a few parts from him and stocks the part , if it turns out to be that .
