I brought a "new" tyre online for my triumph and upon receiving it iv noticed that going by the DOT stamp the tyre was manifactured in 2014. Is this acceptable or should old stock be discounted as I know tryes have a shelf life, most tyres Iv brought have been 2 years old tops.

"Most Tyre manufacturers advise replacing a tyre after it's around 5 years old" So if your'e planning on wearing it out in the next year or so it should be fine .

If in doubt , send an email to that specific tyre manufacturer and get it straight from the horses mouth .

It depends on how the tyre has been stored - if the temperature was kept relatively steady and it was away from UV light then there should be nothing to worry about.
