After a week away on business I was getting withdrawal symptoms from two wheels but a few hours out on the Enfield with dearest as pillion reminded me how fantastic even a slow bike ride can be. 70+ miles around wiltshire/Hampshire border ending up at Salisbury Cathedral for a coffee before the ten miles back home. The middle section of the ride around Dinton/Wyle/Chitterne we hardly saw another road user for miles and perfectly suited to the RE chugging along.

    Perfect day out

Makes you feel lucky to have a bike licence doesn't it!
Great weather too, love Dinton. I also popped out to enjoy the weather for an hour and came back three later, Avebury, Marlborough, Newbury, Wantage, Farringdon (Costa), Waterpark, Wooton then home !!
Don't think we will get many more chances this year !
Counting down until my next ride out!

Great when you get a day like that. Feeds the soul!

Must say it was a great weekend for riding.

Blimey, a proper one, enough racking there to satisfy any ali box BM biker ; ) Mines a 'modern' one with disc brake, halogen headlight and (say it quietly) and electric start. Does have a kickstart though for when you want to be all manly ; )

Ah, I thought that bike looked familiar. She had it on display at the recent Bristol bike show. I had a brief chat with her, It was fantastic to hear of her travels.

What a world traveller with no ali boxes, traction control, active suspension, GoPro or BMW geek suit, didn't the lady know she was doomed to failure?

Fantastic blog, I particularly love the line 'All I know is that when I’m riding it, I get that stupid grin that lasts the whole journey'. The furthest my Enfield has been with me on a single trip is 200 miles but I have no doubt the grin stays for as long as you'er riding it. I'm fortunate to have a few bikes to choose from and, in todays biking terms, the Enfield is the 'worst' of them. For sure I enjoy riding the others but if I want to guarantee an enjoyable ride, be it 10 miles or 200 then it's the Enfield every time.
