Think I'd either go for an FJR1300 which is a serious mile muncher or a CBF1000 MK2 version which is a little less weightier.

Thanks Col I have had two Blackbirds in the past but the stance that you sit on the bike is way to sporty over the tank for me and my 5ft 7.

As you already have a Triumph why not the Trophy? Maybe not as sporty as you would like but it's still British.

I ride a CBF1000 and I'm the same height as you. I have it on the middle setting but it is adjustable.
It's chain drive and I find the seat a little hard, but otherwise I can't fault it.

I've had a GSX1250FA for the last four years ...a superb touring bike...they are cheap, reliable and very comfy for rider and pillion..they carry heaps of luggage and pull like a freight train..
Just done 700 miles around Northern France and ran like dream with enough gear loaded onto it to tour for a month..
