Not sure if anyone on here is interested, but I've been reading up on another forum about these cheap £35-50 GoPro clones that are available on Amazon and eBay - the main ones are SeCAM SJ4000's though if you search eBay there are even clones of the SeCAMs now.

The feedback on other forums and review sites are that they're just as good as the GoPro and at that price it's less of a heart attack if they fall off and break. YouTube videos done using them look great, and they come with loads of mounting accessories.

Might be of interest to anyone wanting a helmet cam or camera to strap to the bike

May look at one of these for a secondary one to mount to my bike keeping my expensive Contour as my helmet cam.

I think their 1 big difference is no external mic option, so any aspiring boring-loggers can't natter over the video.

I have one of the even cheaper ones http://www.banggood.com/1080P-Car-DV...-p-943732.html . Not the best quality but enough for my purposes. Here's an example video filmed at 720p, it does 1080 but the quality is not a lot better so I go for the smaller file size https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MkzBGMuUAc8

This site is better for buying the SJ's http://www.banggood.com/Wholesale-Sp...ra-c-3250.html . It tells you the hardware/chip/sensor/whatever it is, in the listings so you know if it's a "fake" or not.

Looks ok, gopro are doing a basic version for £99 now, and you can always get mounts on the bay.

The basic one as far as I know is the original gopro so the hardware probably isn't as good as these cheap ones.

Probably not, but the build quality will be better, the cheaper ones look pretty good, but it states not to be left in direct sunlight, which cant be much good.

I got a cheap Sunco for £70. Really impressed with it.

I think the basic model go pro has a fixed battery which will limit its life, if I splurged 100 notes I'd rather the SJ with its removable battery.

Mine arrived today along with certificate of authenticity to show it's a proper SJCAM one. Will have a play at the weekend if I manage to get out on the bike
