GoPro type camera

For anyone considering buying a sports camera, I thought I would share my experiences with the SJ4000 which is a GoPro clone type camera. They can be had for less than £40 delivered from UK suppliers, offer decent video quality, lots of brackets and mounting options, all for a fraction of the price of a GoPro. You have to buy a micro SD card, but these can be had for around £11 for a 32gb card, and you would have to buy one for the GoPro as well. I would also suggest a spare battery or two (around £5 each), the battery lasts for about an hour. I have used it on a track day, drag racing, scuba diving and skiing and I am very pleased with it. If you are doing a track day this year, it could be just the toy you need

Here are some videos I took at various times last year. The picture on the bike is dark because I have a very dark screen, it would be much brighter with a clear or less tinted screen

That is a lot better quality than my £25 cam, much crisper focus. Have you thought of mounting it on the mirror stalk? You lose the issue with the screen then and also it makes it harder to accidentally incriminate yourself.

The video quality is actually better than those clips, as YouTube downgrades the quality. I have been very impressed with it. I could mount it outside the screen, but I wanted to be able to see the rev counter/gear indicator so I could see when I was changing up, speed into corners, etc.,. There are loads of brackets for different mounting options including helmet mount. I used a wrist mount for scuba diving and a chest mount when skiing. Not sure I would shell out £300 for a GoPro, but for less than £60 with a memory and a couple of spare batteries, I think it is good value
