I have also done both. I did IAM in 2006 and RoSPA in 2011 and about to re-test. My belief is it is important to get on with your tutor, ask for another if you don't. It also helps tremendously if you gel with the group(s) you join.

I don't know about WABAM (IAM) but Salisbury Plain Group were not particularly active and thats why I started to look further afield. I feel I have got on well with my tutor at Wiltshire RoADAR and subsequently the other members, but everyones different.
