Serious bike accident between Box and Batheaston just after Z bend, happened about 4.15pm.Rider was airlifted to hospital but bike was burnt out on impact.I dont think any other cars etc were involved.Sad news hope the rider will survive.I could not tell what bike/colour it was only it looked like it had a 4-1 exhaust.

Just got back from Bath. Avoid the A4 at all costs!

What's going on? It's tricky to say who is to blame as sometimes its down to bad riding or bad driving... we've had wet roads for ages, might be sun low in the sky or just a bad average.

Unfortunately the guy that got air-lifted to hospital in Bristol didn't make it and passed away late last night. He worked at the same place as me, the other drivers involved also work here...

    Sad news RIP

IMO The state of the roads is a big contributor to accidents. That particular piece of road is in a terrible condition.
The people in charge of the highways should be hung

Shocking road anyway but that specific Z Bend used to cause me no end of problems on my way to work. Knowing the councils lack of planning its probably still peppered in pot holes too?

    GWS whoever it was!
