Could bike meets be a thing of the past???
i.e If someone gets upset with us meeting at the H&C they could accuse us of being annoying???




The UK Government is about to pass legislation which will make any behaviour perceived to potentially ‘cause nuisance or annoyance’ a criminal offence. The Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Bill also grants local authorities, police and even private security firms sweeping powers to bar citizens from assembling lawfully in public spaces. The Bill has successfully passed through the House of Commons without issue, and is now in the latter stages of review by the House of Lords, after which it will receive Royal Assent and become Law. Those who refuse orders under the new rules will face arrest, fines and even prison time.

I really hope that's wrong because bar things already covered by the riot act the ability to congregate in public places is a seriously basic pillar of freedom, without we are no more than a dictatorship that just happens to change its figurehead every few years.

Also private companies? The day some braindead muppet from G4S tells me where I can congregate is the day I day I get arrested for something a tad more serious than being a nuisance.

I hope this is overhyped I know RT as a channel are a mouthpiece of the Russian state (Putin) so tend to overdo things.

Bull ****. They wouldnt be allowed to implement anything like what they explained in that video - the European Union for Human Rights wouldnt sanction it and the government would come under immense scrutiny for it. They just arent that stupid. The courts and prisons wouldnt be able to cope with the numbers.

If someone is a nuisance they get arrested new money for old rope a field in swindon had 100 kids hanging around at night police was power less to even try and move that many about as they would have to split them into 3s ever street would be full there needs to be more public meeting places in order for police to direct people to go there.

Seriously though, having read the new legislation a lot of it is over my head, but I get the gist of it and now understand why there is so much criticism aimed at the government coming from all fronts and not just the usual suspects. I will stand corrected, but I’ve seen no safeguards in place to stop the following hypothetical scenario from actually happening when the bill hits the statute book. I live in a quiet village with a pub where bikers from all around the locale come to attend the weekly bike-meet. I’m getting pretty pissed off with the noisy exhausts and speeding through the village so what do I do about it? Record the noise levels, take some photos recording the times and then approach and recruit to the cause, a number of likeminded residents to add clout to my beef. We then petition our local police and Councillor raising our concerns and submitting our evidence. Hey Presto – court imposes an injunction. Of course, the ‘if you are doing nothing wrong you have nothing to fear brigade’ may well say, so what, the current provision in law already exists to prevent such meetings from going ahead. Exactly, this just makes it a whole lot bloody easier to secure a banning order and a lot harder to stop one.

Home Secretary Theresa May said, “In my view the provisions of the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Bill are compatible with the Convention rights.”
Are you sure? The EU charter of fundamental rights article 45 Freedom of movement; “every citizen of the Union has the right to move and reside freely within the territory of the Member States” Wouldn’t be the first time the government got a bloody nose.
