I'm off to Wales for a blast end of October for 4 nights staying in Menai with a friend. The cold never bothers me, that's what Bergin gloves are for ! But I do want to ride some of the best roads. Im heading up from Wiltshire, so good roads up would be good, and any particular great roads that aren't always apparent? Cheers all in advance !
Counting down until my next ride out!

For me, the one that makes me smile like a loon is the A466 from Chepstow through Tintern to Monmouth. 16 Miles of twisties and scenery. Then the A40. Ignore the dual carriageway bit. The rest is sublime.

I'm with Nelly 100%, the A466 and then the A40 heading east - never tire of that route

Head up towards Oswestry then take the A5 towards Llangollen and through Betws y Coed. If you get chance head to Llanberis, there are plenty of cracking roads around there! Do a bit of riding on Anglesey if you get the chance too- head out to Rhosneigr and Aberffraw.

Hi Shiftyblake, one circuit route you might find of interest, once your at Menai, from Caernarfon find the Llanberis road the A4086 and follow, staying on that road known as the Llanberis Pass, as you go up expect the temps to drop (yes it's that high), as you get near the summit of Snowden it can get a bit breezy but the views can be stunning, don't forget to look behind you as you climb the views are amazing, once you go past the pub near the top all the views will be in front as you drop back down, stay on the same road until you approach a T junction, turn right on the A498 and follow, in the right weather it's simply stunning, follow this road until you reach Beddgelert, once there take the A4085 and follow back to Caernarfon.

Another is from Caernarfon to Aberdaron following the coast as close as possible at all times, again some stunning views.
All in all a rather nice way to spend a bit of time on a bike, have fun
