I would shop online and get the same for a load cheaper than the thieving ***** called currys. Just check the reviews and returns policy before you buy. There are better deals out there. Good luck.
When it's your time to go it's your time, so don't let it catch you.

Yea I agree but it was a present. Have seen the same camera on ebay for £50.
I'll see what they say in Trogtown today

Get the receipt and take it back for a refund!
Don't let them fob you off - you are entitled to a full refund
    - Ask to speak to a Manager if you have any difficulties.

Under The Sale of Goods Act 1979 (as amended) states that goods should be fit for purpose, obviously your camera does not fulfill that requirement and therefore you are entitled to a full refund. If Currys argue the point and you have paid with a credit card, invlove your credit card company as they will take up your case as they are the "purchasers" of the goods.

    Thanks for the advice everyone

    Right here's what happened.
I went to Trogtown Currys and they agreed to give me a refund but not in cash as it was paid for by my ex on her card. So I had it put on a gift card.

So now I have the original problem.

Which camera should I go for???

Had a look at the sony-cyber-shot-dsc-wx80. That looks good
    http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/cameras...36565-pdt.html

It's another £35 but it looks better on this comparison site.

    http://snapsort.com/compare/Panasoni...-shot-DSC-WX80

Or spend another £65 and go for the PANASONIC Lumix DMC-TZ35EB

    http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/cameras...22534-pdt.html

I think that might be a bit too good for what I need

Or I could get the Panasonic Lumix DMC-XS1 and put the rest towards this MP3 player http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/audio/p...44587-pdt.html

Or just try my luck with another Panasonic Lumix SZ3

I did look at the Canon ixus 510. Some reviews said the touch screen was rubbish and after playing with it in the shop I see what they mean

Just taken delivery of the Panasonic SZ9 which seems great, loads of features we'll never need or use but as a camera it's very good so far. Whether it suffers the same fate as Swanny's sz3 we'll wait and see! It's clever in that you can control it through a smartphone or tablet over wifi, for remote shooting. Not entirely sure when that will be useful but it's clever.

Well I've just been and picked up a Panasonic's Lumix DMC-TZ30

    http://www.ephotozine.com/article/pa...m-review-19048

    http://www.cameralabs.com/reviews/Pa...30/index.shtml

It was last years top of the range and is way too good for me but it was a bargain in currys for £140
After reading loads of reviews on alsorts of cameras and speaking to 4 monkeys (I knew more about compact cameras than them) I finally found someone that knew what he was talking about and recommended the TZ30, so after reading another review I took his advice

Actually it was quite funny listening to the monkeys spouting BS and then putting them straight
But I'm a long way from being an expert on camera related stuff like RAW (whatever the **** that is)

If anyone wants one Bath currys have one left

Raw is unprocessed by the camera's sensor. You'd only shoot in raw if you want to process the pictures yourself post-shoot with software like adobe lightroom. Raw files are huge, you probably just need to shoot in jpg, the camera does all the processing for you.
