Hi and welcome- I would agree with some of the previous comments Rabb and suggest you consider something a little more sedate that a 750 sports bike. It is a massive leap from a 125 to a 750 nowadays when you consider a 1980 gs suzuki was putting out approx 55 bhp.

Hi Rabb, welcome to the site...
Not wanting to contradict anyone, but my advice would be CBR600F. It's a fantastic bike, and quite forgiving. If you want to ride like 'Driving Miss Daisy', you can do. If you want to go touring, you can do that too. If you want to ride like a loony, it'll do that too. The CBR600RR is too much as a first bike. And as for the GSXR750, it's mental. You could get yourself in trouble with that. I know folks will say 'it'll only go as fast as you opening the throttle', but controlling that throttle takes a lot more on the GSXR compared to the CBR. The CBR is such a forgiving bike, with a good riding position, it's good for novices. But, when you get used to it, it'll go like a missile too. No one needs more than a 600 on the road. Any extra cubes is just making up for a deficiency in the trouser department. That's why I ride a 1000... :-[ [smiley=happy.gif]

Welcome. Glad to see another getting into motorcycling.

Am with Mark on the CBR600F, top bike. Also look at a V twin such as the SV650s. Would also advise looking at flat bar bikes such as the Honda hornet.

    Good luck!
