I'm thinking of fitting a power commander to my Z750. Couple of things...
What kit do I need to buy ?
How do I fit it ?
I've videos on web site looks a specialist needs to fit it & map it.
Please advise

They will be bike specific models of the pc so you'll want the right one for sure, tho potentially can be some minor cross comparability - my falco has an rsv one - but works as the motor and ecu are the same. Fitting is easier than an alarm, bit of cable routing, a splice lead off the tps and unplug the leads to the injectors and couple in the pc loom. It's what you then do with it is the bigger issue - potentially they say the base map improves the bike but the bigger benefit is to fine tune fuelling and ignition timing if you can / want the extra on top. Mot done will finish this post when back at a pc...
.. so ideally once fitted you would look to get a custom map done to your bike somewhere with a dyno 250i - which will check and adjust air fuel ratio at varying throttle openings at 500rpm intervals...so afterwards the mixture is optimised across the board.
However if your bike is'nt modified / modified much you may not get much gains - ie the stock ecu map is optimised already, although there may be a flat spot for emissions. If you have changed the exhaust / induction much from stock then original settings may then move out from ideal.
Dynojet also hold a range of maps to load for each supported bike each with some variation of mods done, so you can play with maps available but I spend a good chunk of last year running rich on a map which was fuelling too much, knowing how rich or lean the bike runs without the kit is gonna be tricky.
Just buy a z1000 ;-) or an R6 we both know they are faster lol
the pre-2009 z1k's I tried were way slower than z750 with PCIII. too heavy. can't argue with the R6 tho!Originally Posted by noisy_lightning
MM - instructions come with the unit when you buy it. Very easy to fit, happy to help. We can sort that suspension of yours out while we're at it!! Also have a wander around zedoc.co.uk where there are loads of really helpful photo-by-photo guides and I'm pretty sure there will be a few for fitting PCs.
on the maps you can download from the PC website to get you started - just find the one that suits you closest - then get down to JHS to have it set up properly.
also you'll find others on zedoc will already have a map or two and will happily send it on to you.
i ll hava go @ fittin oit 4 you mmon??
Thanks guys, Bit more thought before I make the purchase.
What difference(s) will it make to the bike ?
surely the snap, crackle and pop on the over-run is just the air injection system.Originally Posted by GixxerStu

Easy enough................
Shame Bladerider's not around to explain Stu but he had one fitted by the boys at JHS last year and thought it was fab.
you boys and your toys! : ;D

With mine (my old z750) it increased torque hugely throughout the rev range but it was really noticeable at the lower end. Felt like I'd immediately dropped a tooth or two from the sprocket. I was told much of it was a problem with losing the back pressure from the standard can - the engine went flat. One PCIII (as they were back then) and map later and it was a transformation. The maps are also completely adjustable to suit - you save the set up one so you always have that to go back to and then copy it as the starting point for a new map - if you like the sound of your bike farting through traffic (I quickly got embarrassed of that tbh! :-[) then you just adjust the fuel air ratio to suit. Many hours of fun in the garage with a laptop if you fancy that sort of thing!
