Anyone have use of a lathe?

my father outlaw's bought a lathe recently, il have a look next time im out there, what do you want to do, and what material as that will determine what tool/tip il need......

i just want 3 grooves (only cosmetic, so no great accuracy) turned into the tube and then parted off at a given length and chamfered at each end

It's Aluminium tube, 60mm OD and 1.5mm wall thickness
