Good point Al, your fault for upsetting my bike then again Dennis did sit on it earlier so maybe it was that after all :P

Any ideas on best way to protect the electrics from the damp/wet? I seem to have a fair bit exposed under the tank :-[[/quote]

I used to be a Bandit fan, they are so weak in this area, arcing and carb icing in fog and wet weather, in the end i got sick of breaking down and went the full faired route. There seemed to be sod all really you could do to protect the HT leads in the wet, not sure apart from mastic maybe around the fuse box holes/routes in?

    You could try this stuff

    http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/s...egoryId_255221

I used to use it on my RS125 which didn't like starting on cold, foggy & damp mornings...

its possible you have a wiring fault, either a bad earth or maybe a wire shorting out on the frame,,would be a nightmare to trace but i have a similar sounding wiring fault on my gpz500 and i still cant find it(engine dies if i switch the lights off!!!)

Had the wiring traced by garage, they say no faults with electrics/earths and may just be the exposed wiring. Time to learn how to lift the tank and cover these up :-/

I'd check the earths and the condition of the battery.

Should have waited for me to finish work and tag along with you, then the AA would have sorted it :P

No, seriously, glad you're ok. That's happened to me too many times and it's scary as! Luckily I have my mechanic (AKA my boyfriend ;D) on speed dial, so he tends to help. A LOT!
