Just sat here scoffing sarnies in my lunch break at work with my ipod on and it Emerson, Lake & Palmer popped up.

Now it occurred to me that the (nearly) 10 minute version of "fanfare for the common man" is a fairly unique piece of music. Originally written in 1943 by Aaron Copland. In itself it was brilliant. But really came to life when ELP turned it on its head in 1977.

It's not my fav sone but it's got to be noted for its composition on two occasions.

So what do you think the best ever music composition is (not necessarily your fav song)
"the empty can rattles the most!"

Domino by Genesis is a personal fav for me though I'm sure ELP or Yes would probably have much better examples if I'd listened to them..

“Emerson, Lake & Palmer” that brings back lots of memories, along with early Genesis and Barclay James Harvest - good days [smiley=thumbup.gif]

I have the S&M Metallica album on lots. Hearing an entire symphony orchestra's compositions in accompaniment with the heavy metal of Metallica really send shivers down my spine. Especially on their more melodic tracks such as No Leaf Clover & Nothing Else Matters...

The track that does it for me on that album is The Call of Ktulu
