During ITV’s extended news coverage of the royal wedding last night, the reporters repeatedly referred to Kate Middleton as, “A commoner who has now become a Royal.”
In the days and weeks preceding the wedding the media afforded hours of airtime dedicated to scrutinizing Kate’s background.
As a mere peasant myself, I hope Kate’s acceptance in to the aristocratic inner circle will be a catalyst for change, and bring down the walls of the class structure, which clearly still exists in the UK today. In the meantime, it’s comforting to know that true love knows no bounds or barriers.
