Ducati service parts

Hi all, the old Ducati 916 needs a service, belts changing and the tappets adjusting. I went to riders in bristol for a price, but they seem a little bit too pricey, so wondering if anyone on here knows of any other places i could get these parts from as i cant really seem to find anywhere else on the net!!

Have a trawl round the Ducati forums I'm sure I've seen a good guy in Bristol detailed on the Monster forum [ftp]www.ukmonster.co.uk[/ftp] and yes, I know it's not a monny but he does other Dukes too ;D I'll probably be looking for his details for my Duke in the near future

Take it to Rich Llewelin, he owns Louigi Moto up at Clutton Hill (about 5 miles from Bath). He's a Ducati specialist, he's got one of the best reputations around. www.louigimoto.co.uk
I've been using him for years and until I moved to Newbury wouldn't take any of my bikes anywhere else. Tell him Glenn sent you.
Oh and good choice with not using Riders by the way, I'd sooner take my bike to Tumble Tots and let 3 year olds have a go with a pair of Fisher Price pliers and a watering can.

hi drinky, im a member of ducatisti, aint been on it in months, i forgot all about to be honest, i shall have a nose around on there.

Oh and as regards to Louigi Moto, my bike has some service history from there and one of there stickers on my bike, but i'd rather do the service and belts change myself as i would prefer to know nothing has been overlooked.

I see where your coming from with the overlooking bit, but I can assure you Rich wont overlook a bloody thing. To be honest the term 'anal' comes to mind. When I bought my first 916 I took it up for him to have a look over it, 45 minutes later he'd set up the suspension and swapped a bolt over because the one that he took out was "off a bloody jap bike" as he put it.
Why dont you get in touch with him, he'll get you what bits you need.

Well i bought all the bits from riders bristol. It came to £164.40

So when i got back home i did the service changed the cam belts (quite an easy job beleive it or not) adjusted the tappets and replaced the rocker gaskets, took me about 5/6 hours in total.

Riders wanted £650 for the service and belt change and told me it was a day and a halfs work!!!! I think that they are telling lies!!! lol

Something to be aware of with Ducati servicing - and before all the Duacti owners get all heated up and accuse me of spreading malicious rumours, this was told to me by a mate who owns a 998 - if you get a service done and they tell you that they've had to replace some rocker arms due to the chrome wearing off them (at around £100 each, and there are 16 in the 4-valve engines... ) make sure you ask for the old ones back... a crafty dodge by some unscrupulous places is to keep hold of the old ones and get them re-chromed, then charge full whack for them when they replace any on the next customer's bike! > Remember, they are yours, so you're entitled to them...
