    What I'm saying is...

Did Lisa come round the corner, to find a bike in the middle of the road paddling round in a U Turn?

Or did Lisa come round the corner see a bike by the side of the road waiting to U turn who then pulled out in front of her across the road?

It doesn't seem clear from the description (and I don't know which bit of road near Lechlade it happened on)

    Dex,

I came around the corner to see a man on an R1 , X m to my front, stood with his bike parallel (thats at 90 degrees) across the lane I was in ..... He was blocking the lane with his bike about a foot or more away from the white line maybe .... His right foot was VISIBLY on the floor and his direction of view was AWAY from me looking at oncoming traffic in the OPPOSITE lane .

He turned and saw me as I got closer and was already on the white line looking for my exit/escape route. I had seconds to decide 'sh1t wtf is he doing there is he moving or not ?' 'apply brakes now ' and 'where the hell am I going with this as there are 3 bikes in the oncoming lane and a car behind them' .... all a lot for a blonde bird to be thinking about in any time or situation !

Performing a U-turn normally involves pulling into the left hand side of the road. Stopping, checking your path is clear in both directions , performing a lifesaver and then making smoothe seemless move from one side of the road to the next OR maybe even just riding up the road another half mile to the roundabout and rejoin his mates in seconds few on his R1! A U-turn , not on any cbt or bike test I have ever seen involves parking your arse across a lane blocking the road and any other road users from moving through until your route is clear (Mark Able or Freddie please correct me if I am wrong )

He was very lucky I reacted how I did instead of creaming into him to be honest I think the guy actually may have moved into my path with me coming down the road , not sure if I sounded my horn to alert him or not, X -m at 60mph and reducing speed with thinking time isn't a great deal of time or space in any vehicle especially given my options. I could've gone into him directly into his side which would've given both of us massive injuries and I wouldn't be typing away here and eh wouldn't have a poorly strapped up finger.

Quick thinking, 11 years experience on 2 wheels and sheer bloody luck got us both off as lightly as we did.

My claim is now with Barratts a bike injury specialist. I just really want my bike fixing, the cost of my kit back and fair crack for the bruises to my body, my whiplash , my big fat swollen left hand which means I cannot drive my car (gearstick hand) and for the gravel rash and what appears to be a big bloody gash in my right hip , along with a big bruise on my left knee now and a bad left leg. I guess I need to look at long term implications and of course my bike being devalued due to the incident.

All these injuries are bad enough for your average bod on the street but I have just taken up martial arts , I run for 2 hours at a time 3x a week , I'm a very active and outdoorsy type and cannot get out and about and if I could manage it , I'd be climbing the bloody walls out of sheer frustration and boredom. I'm not a PS3 / park my arse in front of the television kind of girl. I can't imagine just relaxing and sitting round the pub with mates for a quiet drink all the time ... Its just not me !

It sounds a lot like you are both very lucky.

If that had been a more solid stationary hazard blocking the road when you came round the corner I fear you might not have been around to share what happened

Glad it was something soft you hit, good luck with the claim but I fear the best you can hope for is a 50/50.

Given the police report has recommedations in it for him or a charge I know I'm quite safe with this one Dex had I been worse they were preparing for a much bigger charge. The report from the officers at the scene their diagrams and markings have me as the innocent party had it been a larger object it wouldn't have been doing a 3 point turn on a main road like that with a roundabout half a mile away ... This guy was either not thinking, very stupid or both

No three hundred maybe yards not metres heads still fecked after incident it happens so quick so painful and I'm still in clip trying to recall all details. Loads going on in my head reliving it thankfully there was police on the scene to do their report as I was too busy laying in the road wondering how i was how he was where the hell I was and if I had any internal injuries as I was getting cold on the ground had no idea where I'd hit on his bike at the time or anything else I may have clipped (handlebars for definite looking at my thigh)

End of the day that's what police and insurers are paid to do . Gather information and make sense of it and decide liability thankfully the police assured me none was on me
