I put an Ad in the wanted section but am wondering where else anyone reckons I might be able to find an old off roader! the Mrs has allowed me to spend some of my own money (thanks darl!) on a 125cc Off Roader and with £500 to spend ts gonna be a bit rough and need some work. So any suggestions? Tried Ebay and Bike Trader and there doesnt seem much that has a V5. A road bike is out of the question as she knows I am a bit mental!

If I can get this money spent soon it will end up in Ikea. >

Have you tried the local off-road forums? A few members on here are also members of the off road gangs...

    Did you join WORM?
To be honest you'll be lucky to find anything worth having or in a fit state to repair for £500. Some reasonable bikes can be found if you shop around but eBay can be a minefield of junk. To go green-leaning it'll need to be road-legal for use on byways, which makes your search that much more difficult. Looking on pre-loved and Gumtree may yield something and the best classifieds will be in the specialist off-road press such as Trials & Motocross News (if that still exists) or TBM (which definitely does still exist) - look in somewhere like a big WH Smith to find those titles. Happy hunting

You just need to keep your eye open and your ear to the ground really, depending on what you want to spend. ;D

I think most of the options have been listed so it's just a matter of looking around bearing in mind 125's are generally learner legal. If not much money available it may well be worth checking out the smaller dealers about the place to see what they have had px'd.

You can pick up bargains on Ebay, sometimes stuff get poorly advertised and is better than it appears! Don't forget the TRF as an option either

Very unlikely that I'd buy something like that - with no ignition switch (unless they came like that, many pukka dirt bikes don't have key ignition) and no docs it may not have any engine or chassis numbers either - you'd never be able to register, MoT or insure it, nor prove that you didn't steal it yourself. Walk away.
As BB said, many bargains can be found because the sellers are too stupid to advertise them properly so search for mis-spelt names and you'll be surprised what may turn up, but don't buy anything hat you're remotely suspicious of!

Yeah I walked away... Nice bikes are often too good to be true and it would break my heart to have a bike nicked. Had a 50" Plasma walk out my front door and that hurt enough. Right before the world cup too. :'(

I have put the feelers out but the only thing local is a 250cc quad. I think I am asking too much really. It needs to be Learner legal as I only have a CBT and never had the time and money to do a big bike test. Its only for off road (on the plain so needs to be road legal). I will just have to keep looking. Just nervous SWMBO is sniffing around my budget! lol ;D
