Dabz I can lend you my Harley gear if youre going
Peter Fonda & Dennis Hopper. 8-) Easy Rider comes to mind
This type of trip is on my bucket list. Have a retirement plan to buy a camper van, attach a trailer, put a bike on it and go touring.
Did bits of it by car quite a few years ago. Was also talking to someone recently who has done it on a bike tour... just need to remember who I was talking to and who they went with... :-?
BB
I have been on a couple of sections, like BB in a car. I don't think the actual riding would be particularly involving - it would be the places you visit that hold all the interest. Gotta do it on a Harley though - no question!
The other, and more interesting ride I have always wanted to do in the US is Highway 1 on the west coast. I have done that section (by car) from Monterey up through Grass Valley and to Lake Tahoe. It would be spectacular on a bike both in terms of the ride itself and the scenery.
Dabz,
Get on an international forum and see where that takes you, the guys on the MV forum are really helpful because it is on my bucketlist to do it and due to some of their locations would join me and Caz on the journey.
Have a look at Oct bike mag, someone rides from New York to LA
Why are mags always a month early? :-/
