    Morning guys,

I'm currently assisting a neighbour as he wants to get into bikes. We bought an old non-running T plate GS500E for pennies and I've got it running beautifully, have stripped, cleaned and bled the front brake and have now moved onto the rear...sadly the caliper is shagged so it's going to be a replacement. Wheres the best place for a decent replacement? I've looked on eBay but they all look just as old and crusty as the one I've taken off!

I've considered just rebuilding this one but the slider pins are so rusty I couldn't even get them out with heat and had to split the caliper in two, and they're still firmly wedged in the other half of the caliper, and the pistons are seized solid and the seals are visible around the pistons!

    Any advice?

    Dave

If you knew the part numbers you could look up on Ron Ayres where the rear caliper is also used, i.e. Bandit 600 or sumsuch, then look for rear calipers from those bikes?

prefer cmsnl, tend to be more european spec as opposed to ron ayres american spec. is it this one? you can then google the part no.

Indeed Ron Ayres shows it's not a us market bike, is there a reverse part lookup on cmsnl though?

    Huh?

On Ron Ayres site you can put in a part number, and it will tell you the designation, and also if that same part has been used on a different bike, this is reverse part lookup. Can't see it there?

does it look like this one, best condition one i could see on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SUZUKI-GS5...1#ht_827wt_785

the 2 new piston and seal kits come to about £40 inc delivery and couple quid for the pin

so £53 all in for the working caliper aint to bad he also has it on make me a offer so could get it a bit cheaper if it looks the same just get the bolt mounting hole centres and check there the same as on yours
