Bare with me while I explain the rough details.

My girlfriend is currently undertaking her bike training, and is due to take the Mod1 shortly. She has however found her first bike and is in the process of buying it.

The bike is from a dealer, and is currently not taxed but is being taxed as part of the sale. For them to tax it however they need a valid insurance document with her name on it as she will be the registered keeper.

As she has a provisional licence only, will she be able to take out a policy on her own on the bike which will cover it till she passes? I presume the price of the policy will be higher on a provisional but will drop once she calls them upon passing the MOD2?

The other option would be for me to insure it under my own name with her as a named rider with provisional status. Does anyone have any experience of doing it this way, as then it would be my own policy and I would take the NCB. Can you hand over a policy to other people for example?
